The Local Government Boundary Commission has released it's proposal which outlines potential changes to our ward boundaries. A 10 week consultation has been launched and will conclude in October. The Commission wants to hear your views on the changes!
It is proposing that there should be eight three-councillor wards and twelve two-councillor wards. All of the current wards will be amended.
Key changes:
- A new Central ward will be created in the town centre.
- The northern boundary of High Town ward now extends further towards Stockingstone Road, whilst Hitchin Road and Crawley Green Road will now be in the Round Green ward.
- Icknield will no longer be a ward and the area will be divided among Barnfield and Bramingham.
- Northwell will be expanded and will take in most of Limbury
- The following new wards are created: Poets, Wardown and Central.
- The following wards disappear: Icknield, Limbury and Biscot.
The Commission has a dedicated section on its website where people can see the detail of the proposals and comment on the names of wards and their boundaries https://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/eastern/bedfordshire/luton.
